Our Story
Working Towards a Better Tomorrow
The Mental Health Crisis Response Institute brings all of the Barbara Schneider Foundation's (BSF) training programs under one roof to make it easier to access trainings and strengthen BSF's mission and goals. Established in 2000, BSF is an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Mental health disorders are a common health problem. We view a mental health crisis as a health care event.
Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. The Mental Health Crisis Response Institute values the voices of Law Enforcement Professionals, Mental Health Providers, Advocates, and people who have experienced a mental health crisis to perceive "what works" in a crisis. The result has been: more appropriate and effective mental health crisis response; improved safety for first responder, person in crisis, and communities; and growing Law Enforcement/mental health/ community collaborations and partnerships .
